How to connect a domain to Wix

Built your site with Wix? Here's exactly how to point a custom domain at it — DNS, apex vs www, and SSL — plus what Domain Agent will soon do for you.

The short answer

To connect a domain you already own to Wix using the pointing method, add an A record on the root domain pointing to 185.230.63.107 and a www CNAME pointing to pointing.wixdns.net at your registrar. You must add both records or the site shows as 'Not secure.' Wix also offers a nameserver method that hands full DNS control to Wix.

How connecting a domain to Wix works

With the pointing method your DNS stays at your current provider — you just point the root (A → 185.230.63.107) and www (CNAME → pointing.wixdns.net) at Wix. Both are required; skipping either triggers a 'Not secure' warning.

Wix does not support DNSSEC or DNS proxies like Cloudflare, so disable those first. The alternative is the nameserver method (change your domain's nameservers to Wix's), which Wix generally recommends because it can then manage and troubleshoot the DNS.

DNS records to set at your registrar

TypeHostValueNotes
A@ (root)185.230.63.107Points the apex/naked domain to Wix.
CNAMEwwwpointing.wixdns.netRequired alongside the A record — both must be set.

Values verified from Wix's official docs, as of June 2026. Providers can change these — confirm against Wix's current dashboard.

Step by step

  1. Have or buy the domain (search and register on JustDomain.ai).
  2. In Wix, choose 'Connect a domain you already own' → the pointing method (vs. nameservers).
  3. Disable DNSSEC and turn off any Cloudflare / DNS proxy on the domain.
  4. At your registrar, add the A record (@ → 185.230.63.107) and the www CNAME (→ pointing.wixdns.net).
  5. Remove conflicting existing A records on the root.
  6. Wait up to 48h; Wix validates and issues SSL. Confirm both example.com and www.example.com load securely.

Common gotchas

  • Add both the A record and the www CNAME — missing one triggers a 'Not secure' warning.
  • DNSSEC and DNS proxies (Cloudflare orange-cloud) are not supported — disable them first.
  • Wix recommends the nameserver method; if you point, Wix support can't fix DNS it doesn't host.
  • Propagation can take up to 48 hours before the site and SSL go live.
