The short answer

For a site built with Hostinger Website Builder or Horizons, connect a domain registered elsewhere one of two ways: point your registrar's nameservers to the pair shown in hPanel, OR add CNAME records pointing both @ and www to connect.hostinger.com. Important: A records do NOT work for Website Builder/Horizons. Hostinger handles SSL and the site goes live within ~24 hours.

How connecting a domain to Hostinger works

Two supported methods. (1) Nameservers — change your registrar's nameservers to the exact pair shown in hPanel (format xxxx.dns-parking.com; account-specific, so copy them from your panel). (2) External DNS / CNAME — add a CNAME on @ → connect.hostinger.com and a CNAME on www → connect.hostinger.com, after deleting existing root A/AAAA records.

A records are explicitly not supported for Website Builder/Horizons — the site won't load. SSL is provided by Hostinger, and the site is up within ~24h once DNS propagates and the site is published in hPanel.

DNS records to set at your registrar

TypeHostValueNotes
NS(whole domain)Exact nameservers shown in hPanel (e.g. xxxx.dns-parking.com)Method 1 — account-specific; copy from hPanel. Replaces all other DNS.
CNAME@ (root)connect.hostinger.comMethod 2 — fixed target. Delete root A/AAAA records first.
CNAMEwwwconnect.hostinger.comMethod 2 — same fixed target. Use Method 1 OR 2, not both.

Values verified from Hostinger's official docs, as of July 2026. Providers can change these — confirm against Hostinger's current dashboard.

Step by step

  1. Have/buy a domain (search and register on JustDomain.ai).
  2. In hPanel, add the domain to your Website Builder/Horizons site (Websites section).
  3. Choose a method — Nameservers: set the exact pair from hPanel at your registrar; or CNAME: delete root A/AAAA records, then add CNAME @ → connect.hostinger.com and CNAME www → connect.hostinger.com.
  4. Make sure the site is published in hPanel.
  5. Wait up to 24h; Hostinger runs a Live DNS Checkup and issues SSL.

Common gotchas

  • Do NOT use an A record for Website Builder/Horizons — it's the #1 mistake and the site won't load. Use CNAME or nameservers.
  • Some registrars don't allow a CNAME on the root (@); if yours blocks apex CNAMEs, use the nameserver method.
  • Nameservers are account-specific — don't copy ns1.dns-parking.com from a guide; use the exact pair in your hPanel.
  • When switching to CNAME, remove old A/AAAA records first or they'll conflict.
Questions
No — A records aren't supported; use a CNAME to connect.hostinger.com or point nameservers.
