The short answer

To connect a custom domain to Bubble, you need a paid plan (Starter or above). In the editor go to Settings → Domain & Email, enter your domain, and Bubble generates DNS records unique to your app — A records for both the root and www. Add them at your registrar, click 'Check my settings,' and Bubble provisions SSL automatically.

How connecting a domain to Bubble works

Bubble uses A records only — no www CNAME. After you add your domain, Bubble shows four A records for the root (@) and four A records for www, with IP addresses specific to your app. You must copy the exact IPs from Settings → Domain & Email → Domain subtab; Bubble's docs explicitly warn not to use the illustrative values in the documentation.

SSL is automatic and can't be disabled — Bubble provisions and renews the certificate. There's no TXT verification. Custom domains require a paid plan (Starter and up); free apps stay on a bubbleapps.io subdomain.

Values verified from Bubble's official docs, as of July 2026. Providers can change these — confirm against Bubble's current dashboard.

Step by step

  1. Register/own a domain (search and register on JustDomain.ai) and upgrade to a paid Bubble plan (Starter+).
  2. In the Bubble editor: Settings → Domain & Email → enter your domain → 'Set up this domain.'
  3. Copy the four root A records and four www A records Bubble displays (your app's specific IPs).
  4. At your registrar, delete any existing/conflicting root A records, then add all eight Bubble A records.
  5. Return to Bubble and click 'Check my settings'; allow up to ~24h (usually 2–4h). SSL is automatic.

Common gotchas

  • Leaving an old/parked root A record alongside Bubble's records breaks the connection — remove non-Bubble A records first.
  • Bubble doesn't use a www CNAME — it wants A records on www too.
  • Don't copy IPs from a tutorial or the docs example — they're per-app and rotate; only the dashboard values are correct.
  • The free plan can't use a custom domain — upgrade first.
